FC Barcelona has extended Fermín López’s contract, which runs until 2027. The 21-year-old midfielder’s new working paper is valid until June 2029. An exit clause of 500 million euros is anchored in López’s contract.
Most recently, the Catalans’ homegrown player was one of the biggest market value winners in the LaLiga update, rising from 30 million to 50 million euros. “You can rely on La Masia. After the permeability to the first team was manageable for many years, one talent after another is currently making its way into the squad. With Hansi Flick it also seems to fit, hopefully the club will continue on this courageous path,” explained TM expert and market value administrator Tobias Blaseio.
Right-footed López has only played six competitive games over 187 minutes this season due to injury. The two-time Spanish international provided two assists in the 4-1 win in the Champions League against FC Bayern on October 23rd. Last season, López made 43 appearances in which he scored twelve goals.
