In May 2024, PSV Eindhoven pulled the purchase option for Malik Tillman. The 22-year-old offensive all-rounder moved permanently from FC Bayern to the Eredivisie after a convincing year on loan. The US international now spoke about the transfer in a media round.

“The whole thing was up to Bayern, they basically didn’t want me anymore. PSV had the right to buy me. They were the first option, and so I didn’t actually have a chance to say anything,” explained the professional, who was previously tied to FCB until 2026 (quoted via journalist Charles Boehm). According to reports, the 25-time Dutch champion paid a transfer fee of 12 million euros for him. PSV has only paid more for a new signing four times.

“Still, I’m happy at PSV,” he made it clear. What is noticeable on the pitch. In the first eleven competitive games of 2024/25, Tillman scored four goals and two assists. Last year, the right-footed player contributed nine goals and 15 assists in 40 games. Tillman’s market value is currently estimated at 20 million euros, but this will be adjusted upwards again in the Eredivisie update on October 14th.

“I am very happy that I will be staying at PSV for a longer period of time. The first season was great and I hope we win many more trophies in the coming years,” Tillman said during the transfer. His coach Peter Bosz said: “I am very happy that he is staying. He is only 21 years old (now 22; editor), but he has already taken so many steps in his development this year. It’s nice to see and I’m excited to see how he develops further.”
