The paths of Bayer Leverkusen and Jonas Hofmann (32) are likely to part in the summer after two years. According to a report by the “Sport Bild”, this is the result of a meeting between sports director Simon Rolfes and player advisor Dr. Marco Gutfleisch last Friday.
The Hofmann page has deposited the wish for more time, but the Werkself could not guarantee this. Therefore, the offensive player is now looking for a club. Leverkusen does not put any stones in the way of the Hofmann, bound by 2027.
The 23-fold DFB player switched from Gladbach to Bayer for 10 million euros in the summer of 2023 and an important pillar of the double season with 20 scorers in 46 games. In the current season there are only three goal participations in twelve missions. After a thigh injury, Hofmann was only on the pitch for 39 minutes in 2025. Since the beginning of 2024, its market value has continuously fell from 13 million to EUR 3 million.
“He needs playing time. It is not easy for everyone to have this time,” admitted coach Xabi Alonso in early February. “We spoke. He is there. He is ready when we need him.” But it rarely happened recently. “He has the experience, but he also had this one -month injury in December. But yes, he needs a little more playing time. I hope that he gets her. His mood is – of course the players all want to play. But he is ready when we need him.”
