Offensive talent Isak Hansen-Aarøen is without a single appearance at SV Werder this season. Although the 20-year-old Norwegian was on the bench in nine out of ten games, coach Ole Werner did not allow him to be substituted. Now they could part ways for the time being.
“Sky” reporter Florian Plettenberg reports that Hansen-Aarøen is a candidate for a change in the winter. Accordingly, Bremen are open to a loan. The report does not reveal exactly what the plan is for the U21 national player. Werder brought Hansen-Aarøen out of Manchester United’s reserves on Deadline Day in February and reportedly paid 250,000 euros for him. By the end of the season he had played 25 minutes in the Bundesliga, spread over three games.
Update 3:07 p.m.: When asked about the report, Werder’s licensing department manager Peter Niemeyer told the “Deichstube”: “It is clear to all parties that Isak needs more playing time than he can currently get with us.” A loan could be “a good step.” The most important thing is “that he gains match practice in order to progress in his development. We are in close contact with Isak’s advisor.” Hansen-Aarøen could temporarily play in the U23 in the regional league, it is said. According to Niemeyer, this “could make sense at certain points”.

“Isak is very good in small, tight spaces. But he has to step up when it’s eleven against eleven. He has to grow within himself, adapt even more to football in the Bundesliga and expand his style of play. Then it will also develop with us,” said licensing department manager Peter Niemeyer in September, according to “Bild”. Hansen-Aarøen has “an exciting profile and a lot of potential. We have to work together to make sure he makes the most of it.” The youngster’s contract runs until 2027.
