RB Leipzig is high -pressure in search of a new head coach for the next season and has apparently had initial talks. According to “Sky” there was a meeting with Oliver Glasner’s management. The Austrian, February 2024 in office at Crystal Palace, is therefore part of the closer group of candidates among the Red Bulls who are looking for a successor to Marco Rose. Interimistic Zsolt Löw takes over the position until summer.
A transfer would be due for Glasner, since the 50-year-old still has a contract with the Eagles by 2026. However, an exit option should also be anchored in the working paper. How high this is is not reported. Glasner fits into the Saxony profile sought because he has red Bull past. He already worked in various positions in Salzburg. The factor could also become sports managing director Marcel Schäfer, whom Glasner still knows from VfL Wolfsburg.
From the Lower Saxony, Glasner first moved to Eintracht Frankfurt and then to Crystal Palace, where he was on the sidelines 49 times so far. Most recently there was also a report, according to which an extension with the coach was worked on. Glasner has a point cut of 1.71, with which he has been the coach with the best cut – with more than two games – since Steve Bruce 2001. This year he has won 19 points with his team in the Premier League so far, taking fourth place in the annual table.
The speculation is also speculated around RB Leipzig via Roger Schmidt, who has also worked in the RB cosmos and would be available from summer. Another candidate is under contract like Glasner. Fabian Hürzeler, whose working paper is valid in Brighton by 2027.
