SSC Napoli is looking for a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (23) and is keeping an eye on Karim Adeyemi. The 23-year-old from Borussia Dortmund has been considered a candidate for several days, as has Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United, among others. Now things are apparently becoming more concrete.
According to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, talks between the clubs about a winter transfer have begun. The southern Italians are said to have even announced that they have an offer in the drawer and would like to make it promptly if an agreement is reached with Adeyemi. A sum in the range of 45 million to 50 million euros is being discussed.
It is currently unclear whether Adeyemi himself can imagine moving to Serie A. The four-time national player is tied to the black and yellow until 2027. Due to a torn muscle fiber, the left-footed player was only on the field in 13 games this season, scoring five goals and five assists. BVB is currently looking for a successor to coach Nuri Şahin, who was fired on Thursday – a decision that could well have an impact on Adeyemi’s future.
BVB: Transfers of Veiga, Chukwuemeka and Rashford unlikely
Dortmund has the chance to make one of the ten most expensive sales in the club’s history at a time when the squad is actually supposed to be strengthened. On the access side, the transfer phase so far has been extremely unfortunate. According to Sky, none of the most recently traded players are currently close to signing. Chelsea FC are demanding too high a transfer fee for Renato Veiga, Carney Chukwuemeka was Şahin’s desired player and a few doors still have to open for Marcus Rashford.
On Wednesday, a new name appeared around BVB: Yunus Akgün. The 24-year-old Turk is having a strong season at Galatasaray and, according to the French “L’Équipe”, should be an issue if Adeyemi leaves the club. This season, Akgün has eleven goals and seven assists in 28 games. His contract runs until 2026.
