AC Milan negotiates with Lazar Samardžić – RB Leipzig would also earn money

Last winter, Lazar Samardžić was already close to his next big career step. But a move to SSC Naples did not materialize. Now another Serie A heavyweight is negotiating with the central midfielder from Udinese Calcio, as transfer reporters Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio both report in Italy. This is AC Milan.

The Berlin native, who still has a contract until 2026, is reportedly open to a move to the Rossoneri. Further talks with the 22-year-old and his agent are planned for next week, as are talks between the clubs. According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan has already made an offer for Samardžić below 20 million euros, his current market value. According to Di Marzio, however, a first offer is still being planned.

The Milanese have to sell a midfielder first. There are currently four professionals in the squad with the main position of central midfield. The Rossoneri are also working on a transfer of Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana. If this deal is finalized, however, a Samardžić purchase would by no means be off the table. Given his young age and great talent, Milan are said to see the Serb as an opportunity that should be seized. If Samardžić takes the next step, his former club Leipzig will also earn money; when he was transferred to Udinese, RB secured a resale clause of an unknown amount.

In an interview with Transfermarkt at the end of 2021, he made no secret of the fact that Udinese is intended to serve as a springboard in the career of the former DFB junior, who took part in the European Championship with Serbia this year: “That was one reason for me to move here. Many players who have a big name were here at the beginning of their careers. That showed me that the club can work well with young players.” In the recent past, this has been the case for Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd), Rodrigo de Paul (Atlético), Nahuel Molina (Atlético) and Destiny Udogie (Tottenham), among others.
