Thomas Müller may take new ground in summer and stop as a professional footballer – at least with his home club. As can be seen from the “Bild” podcast “Bavaria Insider”, there are said to have been two “secret meetings” between those responsible for FC Bayern and the offensive player during the international break. First one with the sports bosses Max Eberl and Christoph Freund, after one under the leadership of CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. A decision on the future should be reported soon, it is said. The tendency is clear that Bayern icon Müller does not sign a new player contract. Instead, the 35-year-old, whose current contract ends in summer, should be integrated in the club in a different way. However, Müller himself has the last word.
From the Bayern bosses, the veteran had heard that they had to continue working on saving salaries. The 2014 world champion allegedly deserves up to 17 million euros a year. Müller should by no means leave FC Bayern, because he was seen as the face of the club, which is why a later leadership role is not excluded. According to the report, Müller’s end as a player in Munich should not necessarily result in the fundamental end as a professional footballer because he continues to be happy. A change to the Major League Soccer is mentioned as a possibility, a Bundesliga change or an adventure like Saudi Arabia are not options.
Basically, FCB record player Müller would like to continue playing football at the end of February in a “Spiegel” interview: “In any case, it feels like this,” he said, but then also restricted: “I don’t rule out anything. It could also be over in summer. But I still have a lot of fun with football.” The attacker gave an insight into his considerations: “I am realistic, I never get this adrenaline again after the end of the career. This also applies to the pressure you have to face. Do you bring your performance? Fulfill your expectations and the outside? It is so strong that you can let go of it. Keep on. “
Bayern Honorary President Uli Hoeneß recently spoke of the fact that with Müller “the next few weeks of discussions”. The best for both sides must be explored. However, according to Hoeneß, it is “not worthy of a great career” if a player like Müller would only be a substitute. At the same time, Hoeneß would be happy if an identification figure, like Müller, would have been preserved to the club after the active career. “I would welcome it. Thomas is suitable for me to do every job with a certain start -up time at Bayern.” This season, Müller under coach Vincent Kompany has 34 missions over 1,255 minutes and five goals and templates each – he was only part of the starting line -up twelve.
