When it comes to the most valuable players in the age groups from 16 to 40, Manchester City dominates with six professionals. But FC Bayern, as the only representative of the Bundesliga, is also doing well; the German record champions have an “oldies” trio. Just as many experienced Germans are represented in this snapshot. Overall, there are market values of between 800,000 euros and 200 million euros.
Four new players made it onto this list compared to October, including Man United’s Leny Yoro (19; 55 million euros), Arsenal’s Declan Rice (25; 110 million euros), Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins (29; 55 million euros). Euro) and Man City’s İlkay Gündoğan (34; 10 million euros). The latter former DFB captain, who shares the status of the most valuable 34-year-old in the world with teammate Kyle Walker, is one of three footballers with a German passport in these statistics. The others are Thomas Müller (35; 6 million euros) and Manuel Neuer (38; 4 million euros) and come from FC Bayern, but both are no longer active for the national team.
In addition to Müller and Neuer, the third professional from the Bundesliga is Harry Kane (90 million euros), who leads the 31-year-olds by a large margin of 60 million euros, ahead of Ederson. The lead of Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, who impressively dominates his year, is also immense. Compared to all 17-year-olds, the teenager is 110 million euros ahead of his teammate Pau Cubarsí. In the December update, the European champions increased again by 30 million euros to 180 million euros.
“His career so far is becoming increasingly difficult to put into words. The leadership role he already plays in the Spanish national team and at FC Barcelona is simply indescribable. The jump in quality as soon as he is on the field is unmistakable. Hansi Flick now has the task of getting his long-term stress under control in order to avoid more serious injuries. It’s currently not worth comparing him with other world stars of the past because his performance data is unique for his age,” said LaLiga expert Tobias Blaseio at the time as part of the upgrade.
Most valuable players in the age groups from 16 to 40: Man City 6x, Real 3x
The most highly valued 24-year-olds are still Man City’s Erling Haaland and Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, who, at 200 million euros each, are currently being outbid by anyone worldwide. In addition to Haaland, Gündoğan and Walker, the Citizens also have Rodri (28; 130 million euros), Bernardo Silva (30; 60 million euros) and Kevin De Bruyne (33; 35 million euros) as the most valuable players in their age group. In addition to Vinicius Junior, the Royals also have Jude Bellingham, who leads the ranking of 21-year-olds with 180 million euros, and Kylian Mbappé, who is ahead of the 26-year-olds with 160 million euros.
Among the most valuable 16- to 40-year-olds, there are only three players who are not under contract with European teams: Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi (37; 20 million euros), Al-Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo (39; 12 million euros) and Fluminense’s Thiago Silva (40; 800,000 euros). When Ronaldo turns 40 on February 5th, he will be the most valuable 40-year-old in the history of Transfermarkt market values.
This is how transfer market market values work
The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this will be here listed. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for a detailed definition of market value).
