Milan technical director Geoffrey Moncada assures they have been in negotiations with Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan for ‘two months’ over new contracts. ‘It’s going very well.’
The former talent scout and current director gave a lengthy exclusive interview to MilanNews.it and among the issues he covered was the on-going discussion to lock down some of their best players.
These include goalkeeper Maignan and left-back Theo Hernandez, both of them France internationals whose deals only run to June 2026.
Moncada update on Milan talks

“We started the negotiations two months ago and we can say it’s going very well,” said Moncada.
“I don’t know which will be first to sign, but we have started very well. Obviously, everyone is happy, I have not seen anyone who wants to leave. You can ask them, they are all happy here at Milan.”
When it comes to Theo Hernandez, he has been wearing the captain’s armband in the absence of Davide Calabria, but can he be considered a true leader of the squad?
“He will be. Not even he realises the potential that he has,” added Moncada.
“Nobody has a left-back like this. I think he has a great career ahead of him, don’t forget he is still young.”
The former Real Madrid man only turned 27 last month and has been with Milan since the €22.8m transfer in the summer of 2019.
So far this season, he has contributed two goals and two assists in 13 competitive games.
