Eintracht Frankfurt’s sports director Markus Krösche definitely doesn’t want to give up shooting star Omar Marmoush in January. “We want to keep this team together in the winter so that we can achieve our sporting goals. We still have a lot of potential for development in one area or another, but also as a team. Omar is an important part of that. “So the question doesn’t arise,” said Krösche on “Welt TV”.
Marmoush, who joined the Hessian Bundesliga club on a free transfer from VfL Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023, has so far scored 14 goals in 16 competitive games and provided eleven assists, making him the third-best scorer in the top 10 leagues, and is expected to join several top clubs, such as FC Bayern or Liverpool have played in the focus. “Of course there are always pain limits. There are always sums where we as a club have to consider whether it is the right moment and the right amount. But we’re not there yet,” said Krösche. Basically, the club is dependent on transfer proceeds.
Marmoush increased its market value from 22 million to 40 million euros this season – only five professionals in the world have surpassed this jump since July 1st. With this valuation, the Egyptian is the most valuable Frankfurter. An exit clause is not included in the attacker’s contract, which runs until 2027, as Krösche confirmed. “No, nothing is regulated.”
Eintracht Frankfurt: Stay in touch with FC Bayern
The 44-year-old openly admitted that players whose development is faster than that of the club will also be let go. “We have implemented this in recent years.” This is always an issue in contract negotiations. The SGE repeatedly lost top players, like Randal Kolo Muani a year and a half ago or Willian Pacho last summer. It is therefore all the more astonishing that new rough diamonds are conjured up every year and then they really hit the mark.
The Hessians are currently surprising as third in the table, six points behind Bayern Munich. Playing a key role in this: Marmoush and his congenial partner Hugo Ekitiké, who are the most dangerous attacking duo in the league. However, Eintracht does not see itself as a championship contender. “We just manage to play good football. But let’s not talk about any titles or an attack on the title. “It’s still too early,” said Krösche, who added. “We make sure we stay in touch.”
