Francesco Camarda is already the youngest Serie A player in history, and the youngster from AC Milan broke further records on Tuesday evening. At 16 years, seven months and twelve days, the striker became the youngest Italian debutant in the Champions League. In the 3.1 win against FC Brugge, he came on as a substitute for Álvaro Morata in the 75th minute.
In comparison, Camarda replaced Moise Kean among the Italian talents, who appeared on the pitch for the first time in the premier class for Juventus Turin on November 22, 2016 at the age of 16 years, eight months and 25 days. Overall, the Milan native is in seventh place and is also the youngest Champions League debutant in Milan’s club history.
Camarda, who is the most valuable 16-year-old in the world with a market value of 10 million euros, almost set another record in front of his parents, but his supposed goal shortly before the end was canceled due to an offside position. His teammates had previously ensured AC Milan’s first win of the season in the Champions League. Former Dortmund player Christian Pulisic converted a corner directly (34′), Tijjani Reijnders also scored twice (61’/71′).
