Juventus Turin and Paul Pogba are going their separate ways. As the “Old Lady” announced, the contract that originally ran until the summer of 2026 will be terminated by mutual agreement on November 30th. The 31-year-old central midfielder, whose doping ban was recently shortened, will soon be able to sign with a new club for free at any time.
Juve sports director Cristiano Giuntoli had previously announced that Pogba was about to leave the Bianconeri. “Paul was a great player. Last year and this year we were forced to invest in other players, and our position is clear: at the moment our squad is full.” With Teun Koopmeiners, Khéphren Thuram and Douglas Luiz, Juventus signed three players in the summer who were in Pogba’s positions play. In addition, at the end of last season, Nicolò Fagioli returned from his ban for illegal sports betting.
Pogba had high testosterone levels during a check last August after a Serie A game between Juventus and Udinese Calcio. The B sample confirmed the result. Pogba had appealed the decision to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) and denied having used banned means to improve performance. He admitted that he had taken a dietary supplement whose package leaflet had mentioned performance-enhancing substances. However, the responsible Italian sports court banned him for four years at the end of February.
However, the International Court of Arbitration for Sport was of the opinion that Pogba had not intentionally doped and in October shortened the doping ban for the Frenchman from four years to 18 months. This means that Pogba will be able to play football again from March next year. But not in Turin. There have recently been rumors about the MLS or a return to France.
