Unheard. Finnish media journalist Ilta-SanomatJuha Kanerva acknowledges that he was wrong in voting for the 2024 Ballon d’Or. A mistake that, given the final equality of the results where Rodri managed to beat Vinicius by only 41 points, can cost a very dearly.
I am going to resign from the Ballon d’Or jury
Juha Kanerva, journalist from Finland who voted in the 2024 Ballon d’Or
A resignation announcement that he made public in a comment on his personal account X.com. A Madrid account indicated that it was one of the only three journalists on the jury not to include Vinicius Junior among the 10 best players of the award and he has responded with total sincerity, admitting his mistake: “My technical error. I am going to resign from the Ballon d’Or jury”.
The only one to put Rodri first and forgot about Vinicius
Of the 99 journalists who voted for this awardbecause it is worth remembering that Syria did not vote and abstained in this edition of the Ballon d’Or, Juha Kanerva (Finland) himself draws attention to the fact that he was the only one to give the victory to Rodri and not include Vinicius on that list. Unlike the journalists Sheefeni Nikodemus (Namibia) and Bruno Porzio (El Salvador) who decided to give the victory to Bellingham and, in the case of the Salvadoran, he relegated the Spanish footballer to seventh position.
These were the votes given by the Finnish journalist in the 2024 Ballon d’Or:
- Rodrigo Hernández: 15 points
- Erling Haaland: 12 points
- Jude Bellingham: 10 points
- Toni Kroos: 8 points
- Florian Wirtz: 7 points
- Declan Rice: 5 points
- Lamine Yamal: 4 points
- William Saliba: 3 points
- Ademola Lookman: 2 points
- Dani Carvajal: 1 point
