FC Bayern is apparently stepping up its efforts to sign another new winger. As Sky reports, the record champions are in concrete negotiations with Stade Rennes about a transfer of Désiré Doué. The 19-year-old Frenchman is set to move to Säbener Straße as a replacement for fellow countryman and potential transfer candidate Kingsley Coman (28). According to the TV station, FCB is preparing a second offer after a first offer of 35 million euros was rejected.
A realistic price for the German record champions is said to be between 45 million and 50 million euros plus bonuses. If the Munich team puts that amount on the table, the transfer expenses of the third-placed Bundesliga team this summer would increase to up to 195 million euros. The club has never spent that much in a transfer period – the previous record is the 187.5 million euros from last season. A decision on Doué is expected to be made next week. Bayern recently presented Michael Olise (22) from Crystal Palace for the offensive wingers. Coman (contract until 2027), who could leave if a suitable offer is made, is being courted by Fenerbahce, but is said to have other plans.
Doué can apparently imagine a transfer to FCB. According to “Sky”, there has already been a telephone conversation between the 1.81 meter tall and ambidextrous designated Olympic participant and Bayern coach Vincent Kompany. In recent weeks, numerous top clubs have been linked with him, including Bayern, Bayer Leverkusen, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. The Werkself tried particularly hard in the January transfer window, but failed at the time with a reported offer of 20 million euros. PSG are now also said to be preparing an offer to enter the race for Doué. According to “L’Équipe”, Bayern also face competition from Tottenham Hotspur and, for some time, Chelsea.
Rennes sports director Frederic Massara recently said: “Nowadays, Stades Rennes has the option of rejecting any offer. If large offers come in, they have to be examined on a case-by-case basis. But as of today, there are no large offers.” Doué also does not want to move, the Italian stressed. The all-rounder, who is under contract until 2026, made his breakthrough with the Bretons at the age of 17 and would be planned for the wing in Munich, or alternatively for the number 10 or number 8 positions.
FC Bayern also courts Xavi Simons – Dani Olmo as Plan B
If Doué comes, this would apparently not necessarily mean that the efforts to sign RB Leipzig’s rising star Xavi Simons, who is now officially back with PSG, would be stopped. It is said that both transfers would be possible. However, the FCB officials would probably have to give up valuable players such as Coman or central defender Matthijs de Ligt (24), who is about to leave for Manchester United.
According to Bild, 21-year-old Simons is at the top of the wish list, but Bayern are only considering a loan with an option to buy. The Dutch European Championship driver himself does not want to stay in Paris, despite a contract that runs until 2027. If a transfer of Simons is not feasible for FCB, Spanish European champion Dani Olmo (26) would come into focus as Plan B. The club is in contact with the player’s family and management. Olmo’s release clause at RB Leipzig is dated July 20, but the Red Bulls are willing to sell him for around 60 million euros even after that. Manchester City are also said to be very interested in the offensive player.
