In addition to the usual high level of activity on the transfer market, Chelsea FC has secured another important personnel deal. The Blues have given Cole Palmer, the most valuable player in the 42-man squad with a market value of 80 million euros, a long-term contract. The 22-year-old is now tied to the club until 2033, two years longer than before.

No other Chelsea player has such a long contract, but these types of contracts are not an exception. Enzo Fernández even signed for nine and a half years until 2032 in his 121 million euro transfer in January 2023. Palmer is one of 17 players who are under contract until at least 2030.

Last season, Palmer, for whom Chelsea paid Manchester City €47 million last year, celebrated his breakthrough. Having never progressed beyond the role of substitute player for the Sky Blues, he was directly involved in 33 goals in the Premier League in 2023/24 – a league-wide record. Across all competitions, he scored 25 goals and provided 15 assists in 45 matches.
