Efforts to strengthen the defense at VfB Stuttgart are apparently taking concrete shape. According to information from the “Bild” newspaper, the transfer of Burnley’s central defender Ameen Al-Dakhil is about to be completed. According to the report, the 22-year-old is expected to sign a contract with the Swabians that is valid until 2028 after a medical check during the week, with the transfer fee amounting to between 7 million and 9 million euros. Meanwhile, the “Kicker” reports that the deal will be a loan with an option to buy. According to the magazine, Rennes defender Warmed Omari is also on the runner-up’s list.
Reports about Al-Dakhil’s signing had already gained momentum in recent days. The four-time Belgian international, whose market value is estimated at 12 million euros, is said to be open to a move to the Champions League participant, according to recent reports. His contract with the English second division club runs until 2026, and the clubs now appear to have reached an agreement on the transfer terms. In this case, the Swabians would have beaten out well-known competitors such as the clubs FC Sevilla and VfL Wolfsburg, which have also been linked with Al-Dakhil.
While “Bild” reporter Julian Agardi writes on the social network “X” that VfB’s transfer plans have been completed with the signing of Al-Dakhil, according to “Kicker”, a transfer of Omari could also be discussed again. The 24-year-old central defender (contract until 2027) only sat on the bench at Stade Rennes on the first two match days of the current season.
According to the French newspaper “L’Équipe”, no details of negotiations regarding a transfer to the Swabians have yet been announced, but positive progress has recently been made towards an agreement. The Rennes native has made 75 appearances in Ligue 1 to date (one goal), and his market value is estimated at 8 million euros.
