“Biblical Day Of Rest Is Important”: Linz’s Wallner Ends His Career At 22

As Blau-Weiß Linz announced on Sunday, defender Silvan Wallner is ending his career with immediate effect. The 22-year-old Austro-Swiss only moved to Linz in September, where he has since made five appearances for Blue-White. The contract of the Swiss U21 team player, which would originally have run until 2026, has been terminated.

The defender is a devout Christian and no longer wants to work on the biblical day of rest, Saturday, in the future, as he emphasizes: “First of all, it is important to me to thank those responsible, the staff and the entire team at Blau-Weiß Linz. For me as a professional, this means that from now on I don’t want to play football professionally on Saturdays. It is my personal belief that I have come to in the last few days.”
