Australian top talent Nestory Irankunda has been playing for FC Bayern since this season. However, the 18-year-old does not play for the professionals, but for the second team in the regional league. Now he is aiming for a loan.

“I can’t continue to play U23 football every week,” Irankunda said on Friday on the TV channel “Paramount+” on the sidelines of the game between his former club Adelaide United and Sydney FC (3:3). That’s why he spoke to those responsible at FCB about the possibility of a loan. “Of course you want to play at the top level – at a good club in a first division. I feel it will be better for me to go on loan,” said Irankunda. He hopes to have a new club soon. He didn’t give any information about where he might go.

Depending on the source, FCB paid between 750,000 and 3.4 million euros for Irankunda. According to Adelaide United it was a new record for the club, which is why the sum would have to be exceeded at least 1.5 million euros. Irankunda signed a contract in Munich until 2028. The attacker made 15 appearances in the Bavarian Regional League, in which he scored four goals and assists each. He also played three times (one goal) in the Youth League. He sat on the bench twice for the professionals. In September, his market value was increased from 1.8 million to 3 million euros, making him, along with Adam Aznou (18), the most valuable player in the Bavarian Regional League.

Even without playing for the professionals, things were “outstanding” at Bayern: “It’s a good challenge for me. There is of course a huge difference to the A-League – the quality and technique of the players is incredible.” Nevertheless, he wants to temporarily reorient himself.
