Neuer stops training

The current international break was balm for Daniel Peretz’s soul. Not only because the Israeli national team scored four points in the Nations League games against France (0-0) and Belgium (1-0), but also because the 24-year-old goalkeeper finally played two games in a row over 90 minutes goal and showed strong performances. This has only happened once at FC Bayern in 16 months, but leaving is still out of the question for him.
“I try to work hard to improve and stay fit. I’m not thinking about a loan at the moment: I want to give my best in every training session. Then the future will show whether I get more playing time in Munich,” Peretz told “Bild”. Recently, the temporary move to another club was brought up again and again given the limited playing time of only 106 minutes since his move in the summer of 2023 (came from Maccabi Tel Aviv for 5 million euros).
“Sky” reported on Monday that a loan in the winter was currently not an issue, but could be an option again for the summer. Until then, alongside Manuel Neuer (38), Sven Ulreich (36) must decide whether the contract, which expires in 2025, will be extended. In addition, the loan of designated number one Alexander Nübel (28) to VfB Stuttgart, which runs until 2026, could be canceled prematurely.
In any case, there are still a lot of imponderables to be expected in the Bayern goal before the start of next season. And Peretz appreciates the sessions at Säbener Straße: “Training at this high level at Bayern Munich helps me immensely in my development. We are a great group of goalkeepers, Manuel Neuer, Sven Ulreich and our goalkeeper coach Michaelrechner. They push me to my limits every day and make me a better goalkeeper.”
Manuel Neuer breaks off Bayern training: chance for Peretz?
The chance for the second Bundesliga appearance ever and the first this season could possibly arise on Friday in the game against FC Augsburg. On Wednesday, Neuer had to stop training for the Munich team, and there is no diagnosis yet. Substitute Ulreich also missed the last units. The press conference will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m.
Update 7:28 p.m.: According to Sky, Neuer’s decision was a precautionary measure. It is assumed that he can be in goal on Friday.
