RB Leipzig has to do without Xavi Simons and thus the next top performer. The Dutch international had to be substituted in the 78th minute of the 1-0 defeat against Liverpool in the Champions League. As the Red Bulls announced on Thursday, Xavi will be out for several weeks with a ligament injury in his left ankle.

There was initially a lack of clarity about the treatment method before RB announced on Saturday that Xavi had undergone a minor procedure in Munich. According to “Sky”, it is very likely that the football year is over for Simons. “We hope that Xavi is doing well, otherwise we risk gradually losing substance,” said coach Marco Rose after the final whistle. Simons appeared in all eleven competitive games this season and contributed three goals and two assists. The loanee from Paris Saint-Germain is the most valuable professional in the squad with a market value of 80 million euros.

In addition to Simons, Rose also has to make do without regular players Xaver Schlager (cruciate ligament) and David Raum (syndesmosis) due to ligament injuries. In addition, Nicolas Seiwald is not fit for action.
