He Real Betis has made official this Wednesday the renewal of Aitor Ruibal for three more seasons, until June 2028 – he had one left – and the versatile Catalan player has since gone on the club’s TV to show his satisfaction with the agreement reached: “I am happy, it is a pleasure to continue to be linked to this club for four more years and I am pleased. “I am where I want to be, here with my family. Well, I already said the other day that right now I wouldn’t go anywhere else because I feel that I have to be here. I am very grateful to my teammates, to all the coaching staff, the medical staff, to all the club’s workers, because in the end I spend a lot of time with them day to day and they are the ones who make you grow every day,” says the versatile Betis player.
Aitor Ruibal, who arrived at the Real Betis reserve team in January 2016 and then was On loan at Cartagena, Majadahonda and Leganésis now one of the captains of the first team: “I still can’t believe it, in the end it’s been nine years, I’ve had to go through a lot of things, I’ve had to go away for a couple of years to keep growing and in the end I would never have thought that this situation would come. But I’m very proud of my work because I think that in the end the reward has arrived. And in the end this also represents that I am a teammate respected by my teammates, which is something that I think I’ve earned and I hope to continue working hard to give my best both inside and outside,” he said.
Regarding the numerous changes made to the Betis squad this summer, Aitor Ruibal believes that “in the end, football is like this: coming in, going out, from one side to the other. I think that from the year of the Cup there were four or five of us left, if I remember correctly. But hey, in the end this is renewal, things are being done well, we continue to meet our objectives and, well, I think it is time to take a step forward.”

According to Ruibal, there is no need to explain to the new arrivals what it is like to play at Villamarín: “The other day I was asked ‘how do you explain what Real Betis is to a youth player or a new signing?’. There’s no need to explain it, because after the first game you realise how great it is.”
On the figure of Pellegrini, Aitor says he feels “very grateful, in the end, a player always wants to play everything from the first day, but well, this is football, it is a team sport, there are 27, 28 in the squad and in the end many times you don’t get what you think you deserve. But I have always gotten along well with Manuel. In the end I think that the first two seasons it was a bit more difficult for me to take on that role of coming and going, but well, I think that when I started to mature a little, to gain experience and to understand that my role has to be different here, then I think things are going much better for me.”
