An Indian boy three years became the youngest chess player to enter the world ranking of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) after obtaining a surprising result in a tournament for under nine years oldin which it ended 24th of 140 participants.
“Greetings to Anish Sarkarof 3 yearsfrom India, the youngest chess player in the world!”, said this Saturday in a publication on X FIDE, in which he indicated that the minor, born on January 26, 2021, “has achieved his first FIDE classic qualification“with an Elo of 1,555 points.
His entry into the world rankings comes after his participation in two open chess championships in the state of West Bengalin the east of the Indiain which he participated in the categories sub-9 and sub-13.
In it first tournament, in which he had to compete with opponents up to nine years old, Sarkar got 5.5 points out of 8 possible – adding five wins, a draw and two losses– and ended up in the position 24 of 140 players.
Furthermore, lmanaged to beat two opponents in the final rounds which are also part of the world classification, reported FIDE.
Subsequently, he participated in another tournament for those under thirteen years of age, in which he had a more discreet performance – just oneone victory and three draws in eight games– but enough to meet the basic requirements to enter the world list, after having faced each other between both competitions five ranked opponents.
The entrance of Sarkar in it world ranking, which is currently headed by the Norwegian Magnus Carlsen, with 2,831 pointsoccurs at a time when the chess Indian is living a time of great splendor, with two players in the world top 5.
The men’s and women’s teams of chess of India rose with the gold medal in the last Olympiad held in Uzbekistan last September.
