Simone Inzaghi\u2019s assistant manager Massimiliano Farris admits \u2018there are regrets\u2019 after Inter fumbled the 2-0 advantage to draw 2-2 at Parma, but \u2018our destiny is still in our hands.\u2019<\/p>\n

Today was Inzaghi\u2019s 49th birthday, but he was forced to watch from the stands due to a touchline ban and could do little as his team threw away a 2-0 lead.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to analyse what happened with the lads,\u201d Inter assistant manager Farris told DAZN.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were in control in the first half, but also risked with two big chances. We did what we needed to do, scoring two goals.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Nerazzurri rode their luck to a degree in the first half, both with sensational Yann Sommer saves and two fortunate goals, because Matteo Darmian\u2019s effort ricocheted in off the inside of the upright, then Marcus Thuram shinned his finish into the net and looked faintly embarrassed to have done so.<\/p>\n

However, Parma came out fighting for the restart and in nine minutes got it back on track with Adrian Bernabe and Jacob Ondrejka strikes for the final 2-2 result.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were coming off the derby midweek in the Coppa Italia and so many matches, you cannot always find the right spirit to bring home the result,\u201d continued Farris.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery result is very important, but the squad couldn\u2019t find the mental and physical energy. We shouldn\u2019t have allowed Parma to reopen the match. That is evident by the fact once they had equalised, we only ran one more risk on the counter-attack.\u201d<\/p>\n

Inter were also forced into a change at half-time, as Alessandro Bastoni was spotted with an ice pack strapped to his left knee, a worrying sight when the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich is coming up on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully, it doesn\u2019t seem to be anything too serious, he is one of those who pushed us the most this season,\u201d continued Inzaghi\u2019s assistant.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was our 46th<\/sup> game of the season and all those weigh on the legs of the players. Lautaro Martinez didn\u2019t have 90 minutes after that injury, a few others were struggling after the derby,\u201d continued Farris.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe try to safeguard them as best we can and avoid fresh injuries. Nonetheless, we were in control of the match and we shouldn\u2019t have allowed Parma back into the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this stage of the season, I don\u2019t think any team can manage to be consistent for the full 90 minutes. We should\u2019ve kept the ball better with cleaner passing to take the sting out of Parma\u2019s fightback after the first goal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Napoli will not be in action until Monday evening, when they have a very difficult trip to Bologna, but a victory there would close the gap at the top of the table to just one point.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur destiny is still in our hands, now we have to focus on the Champions League quarter-final, then after that back to Serie A,\u201d concluded Farris.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis team has a great ability to focus one game at a time, trying to leave other situations out of their minds. There are regrets today, but we have to keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n
