Fabio Paratici is on the verge of signing up as new director of sport at Milan, but due to the ban imposed for his Juventus dealings, his actions until July 20 are limited.<\/p>\n

Multiple sources are confident that Paratici has won the race to take on this role from the summer, especially after the latest series of meetings with CEO Giorgio Furlani and patron Gerry Cardinale.<\/p>\n

There are some issues to consider, because the reason Paratici is available is that he resigned from Tottenham Hotspur in March 2023.<\/p>\n

This was forced by the 30-month suspension handed down by the FIGC, upheld and spread worldwide by FIFA, for artificially inflating capital gains at Juventus.<\/p>\n

The ban will not expire until July 20, so Paratici will continue to be suspended from certain duties during the thick of the transfer market for Milan.<\/p>\n

La Gazzetta dello Sport have analysed what the ban covers and how it will change Paratici\u2019s role with the Rossoneri.<\/p>\n

Article 9.2 in the FIGC code notes that he cannot sit on the touchline, participate on behalf of Milan in a federation meeting or Lega Serie A summit, nor any UEFA get-togethers.<\/p>\n

He cannot enter the locker room, but above all is not allowed to participate in meetings with players or agents.<\/p>\n

Clearly, this is a problem for a director of sport who is meant to be controlling Milan\u2019s transfer strategy over the summer.<\/p>\n

However, the same rule explains that a banned figure can still work at the training ground with Furlani and watch training sessions, as long as he is not part of the meetings with the players.<\/p>\n

He has still been working with Tottenham as a private consultant.<\/p>\n

Milan are also pushing to include a release clause in the contract, because while the 30-month ban is a done deal, Paratici is not out the woods yet.<\/p>\n

There is still a legal investigation into the artificially inflated capital gains, so in theory when that goes to court, he could receive a prison sentence.<\/p>\n
