Former Torino coach Giancarlo Camolese admits he was surprised by Scotland international Che Adams: \u2018I didn\u2019t know him.\u2019<\/p>\n

The Scottish striker joined the Granata on a free transfer last summer and has netted eight goals in 27 Serie A matches.<\/p>\n

Camolese, a Torino coach in 1997, from 2000 to 2002 and then again in 2009 was surprised by the impact of the ex-Southampton forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t know Che Adams. He surprised me; they did well to find him,\u201d the ex-Italian coach told Gazzetta.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has adapted well to Italian football. At first, he played behind Zapata, linking up with the midfield, but now he plays as the main striker and knows how to connect with his teammates.<\/p>\n

\u201cVanoli was smart to realize that after Zapata\u2019s injury, something needed to change,\u201d Camolese continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe did so by switching to a four-man defence, pushing Lazaro into midfield, and placing two attacking midfielders to support Che Adams, who was initially supposed to be a link-up striker but ended up playing as the main forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Camolese was also happy with the approach of Cesare Casadei, one of the Granata January signings.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is a promising, modern player with great physicality but also technical ability, he\u2019s a reliable presence in aerial duels,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

\u201cTorino could be the club where he confirms the qualities he showed in youth football.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe reminds me of Lazio\u2019s Sergej Milinkovi\u0107-Savi\u0107, who was often targeted to assist with attacking runs,\u201d Camolese concluded.<\/p>\n

\u201cTorino have many options. Casadei is very strong also when playing with the ball on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n
