Bologna striker Santiago Castro \u2018can\u2019t wait\u2019 to meet Leo Messi and Argentina\u2019s \u2018beasts\u2019 and admits he didn\u2019t expect to get his first call-up.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old has scored ten goals and provided eight assists in 38 appearances across all competitions with Bologna this season.<\/p>\n

He earned his first Argentina call-up for games against Brazil and Uruguay and spoke to local media upon his arrival in his native country.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was unexpected, and for that reason, I\u2019m even happier. I shared those moments with my family,\u201d the striker said via TMW.<\/p>\n

How does training with Messi and other 2022 World Cup winners feel?<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t really processed it yet. It\u2019s truly a dream,\u201d admitted the Bologna talent.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t wait to get there and train. Not just with him [Messi] but with all the beasts who have brought us so much joy in the past. I\u2019ll take whatever comes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Castro will soon talk to Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to doing it. I hope I\u2019ll be ready,\u201d the striker concluded.<\/p>\n

Castro holds an Italian passport and was therefore considered for an Azzurri call-up, but Bologna suggested last week that the striker would rather play for his native country.<\/p>\n

Castro joined Bologna from Velez in the 2024 January transfer window. He has become a regular starter at the Stadio Dall\u2019Ara this season after Joshua Zirkzee\u2019s move to Manchester United.<\/p>\n

Castro\u2019s contract with Bologna runs out in June 2028.<\/p>\n
