Carlo Ancelotti feels \u2018exhausted\u2019 after watching his side win on penalties against city rivals Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, praising his players for staying \u2018calm\u2019 despite not delivering \u2018our best performance\u2019.<\/p>\n

Real Madrid triumphed in a dramatic penalty shootout at the end of a tense second leg, where Atletico Madrid\u2019s 1-0 victory forced extra time after their 2-1 defeat at the Santiago Bernab\u00e9u a week earlier.<\/p>\n

Costly misses from Atl\u00e9tico\u2019s Julian Alvarez and Marcos Llorente proved decisive in the shootout, with Antonio R\u00fcdiger holding his nerve to convert the final spot-kick and seal Los Blancos\u2019 place in the quarter-finals, where they will meet Arsenal.<\/p>\n

Ancelotti: Champions League quarter-finals \u2018crucial\u2019 for \u2018exhausted\u2019 Real Madrid<\/h2>\n

\u201cIt was a tough, difficult match, and we made it even harder for ourselves right from the first minute,\u201d Ancelotti told Amazon Prime Video after the match.<\/p>\n
