{"id":7620,"date":"2025-03-08T21:16:03","date_gmt":"2025-03-08T21:16:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/betwealthsuretips.com\/blog\/manchester-city-have-10-finals-to-avoid-disaster-of-not-making-champions-league\/"},"modified":"2025-03-08T21:16:15","modified_gmt":"2025-03-08T21:16:15","slug":"manchester-city-have-10-finals-to-avoid-disaster-of-not-making-champions-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/betwealthsuretips.com\/blog\/manchester-city-have-10-finals-to-avoid-disaster-of-not-making-champions-league\/","title":{"rendered":"Manchester City Have &#8217;10 Finals&#8217; To &#8216;avoid Disaster&#8217; Of Not Making Champions League"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><main id=\"main-content\" data-testid=\"main-content\"><\/p>\n<header data-component=\"headline-block\"><\/header>\n<div data-component=\"video-block\">\n<figure><figcaption><span>Media caption, <\/span><\/p>\n<p>It is not easy to play against Forest &#8211; Guardiola<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p><b>Manchester City are in uncharted territory under Pep Guardiola.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/live\/cz03d002zgxt\">A 1-0 loss at Nottingham Forest<\/a> condemned the Premier League champions to their ninth league defeat of the campaign &#8211; equalling their record for most league defeats in a season during the Spaniard&#8217;s reign.<\/p>\n<p>And for the first time under Guardiola, qualification for the Champions League is under serious threat.<\/p>\n<p>It is a scenario that was unthinkable as City lifted their fourth consecutive league title last May.<\/p>\n<p>Though a <a rel=\"nofollow\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/articles\/cvgp7j3ry2go\">fifth-placed finish could yet provide a Champions League lifeline,<\/a> there are just five points between fourth-placed City and Fulham in 10th as we enter the final stage of the season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p data-component=\"subheadline-block\">\n<h2 id=\"Citys-crisis-in-numbers-\" tabindex=\"-1\"><span role=\"text\">City&#8217;s &#8216;crisis&#8217; in numbers <\/span><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p>Manchester City have not missed out on Champions League qualification since the 2009-10 season.<\/p>\n<p>They have qualified for the tournament with relative ease in seven of Guardiola&#8217;s eight full seasons at Etihad Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>The only exception came during Guardiola&#8217;s first season in England, when City sealed Champions League qualification on the final day of the 2016-17 season by finishing third.<\/p>\n<p>City&#8217;s run of form does not make for happy reading. <\/p>\n<div>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li>\n<p>City&#8217;s nine Premier League defeats this season is the joint-most under Guardiola.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>City have conceded 38 times in 28 matches this term &#8211; more than they&#8217;ve conceded in the seven out of eight full campaigns under Guardiola.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>City have lost 15 of their past 30 matches across all competitions. Their previous 15 defeats before that came over a period of 169 matches. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Speaking to TNT Sports, former Everton and Swansea defender Ashley Williams summed up the unprecedented position City find themselves in.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are so used to seeing Man City be exceptional that a season like this is considered a crisis,&#8221; said Williams.<\/p>\n<p>Former City defender Joleon Lescott said it would be a &#8220;disaster&#8221; if City failed to qualify for the Champions League.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;City are in control of their fate. We have 10 finals [to come].<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We don&#8217;t win enough games in a row to be secure. We have to do something, it doesn&#8217;t come from the sky.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>City spent more than \u00a3180m in the January transfer window, bringing in the likes of Nico Gonzalez and Omar Marmoush.<\/p>\n<p>But the side&#8217;s form has remained inconsistent, with City winning four and losing five of their nine matches since the close of the window. <\/p>\n<p>Former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand feels the January signings are suffering from the team&#8217;s instability.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t think they brought in bad players but they have just come in in less stable times,&#8221; Ferdinand told TNT Sports.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You can&#8217;t bet against Man City, they have the players and the manager.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p data-component=\"subheadline-block\">\n<h2 id=\"City-need-Champions-League-to-attract-top-players-\" tabindex=\"-1\"><span role=\"text\">&#8216;City need Champions League to attract top players&#8217; <\/span><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p>Former England centre-back Lescott says City must qualify for the Champions League in order to attract the best players this summer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you want top, top players, Man City need Champions League football,&#8221; Lescott told TNT Sports.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Elite players need Champions League football.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A failure to qualify for the Champions League would also damage the club&#8217;s finances.<\/p>\n<p>City earned about \u00a390m as they went out of the Champions League at the quarter-finals stage last season.<\/p>\n<p>Their play-off exit to Real Madrid this season means they stand to earn about \u00a328m less, with an estimated \u00a364m windfall this time.<\/p>\n<p>But failure to qualify for the competition for next season would be far more costly.<\/p>\n<p>Rivals <a rel=\"nofollow\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/articles\/c0eg87njdr7o\">Manchester United recently announced their quarterly results<\/a> for the three months ending 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Revenue was down 12% &#8211;
