Simone Inzaghi did not hold back following Inter\u2019s 3-0 loss away to Fiorentina in Serie A on Thursday night, admitting that his players \u2018deserved\u2019 defeat and that his side \u2018didn\u2019t show what we usually show\u2019 from the first minute.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The reigning Serie A champions were soundly beaten by a depleted Fiorentina side in a peculiar set of circumstances on Thursday night. The game began in the 17th minute, which is where the original fixture was abandoned when Edoardo Bove was taken ill on December 1.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There were also rules in place over player eligibility, which left Fiorentina with just eight substitutes on the bench, two of whom were goalkeepers and one being a not-fully-fit Andrea Colpani.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Still, Luca Ranieri opened the scoring in the first half, which was followed by a Moise Kean brace before the 90th minute.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Addressing his team\u2019s shortcomings at full-time, Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia: \u201cWe were completely missing in that game, everything was missing. We deserved the defeat. Congratulations to Fiorentina.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe weren\u2019t good at reacting, despite the signs already being there in the first half. I am the first one to take responsibility. We\u2019ll analyse this defeat, this isn\u2019t the time for drama.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis team obviously doesn\u2019t end here with this defeat. I don\u2019t want excuses or to hear about fatigue, we simply didn\u2019t show what we usually show on the pitch.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI\u2019m happy with what I have. We\u2019ve managed to recover some players. Up front, Taremi is playing through a problem after Lecce, and Correa is still out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis squad has given me a lot to be satisfied with. It\u2019s right to be angry now, but we have to try and start over in the best possible way. There is still a lot to play for.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As things stand, Inter sit three points behind Napoli at the top of the table, and following Thursday night\u2019s game, the two teams have now played the same number of league fixtures in 2024-25. <\/span><\/p>\n
