Gian Piero Gasperini has confirmed that Italy U19 talent Marco Palestra is set to earn his full Champions League debut when Atalanta take on Sturm Graz in the Champions League on Tuesday night, which he feels \u2018can be a nice surprise\u2019 for the supporters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Atalanta are currently in 13th place in the Champions League standings after six matches, but could secure their position in the play-off round with a victory against the Austrian outfit on Tuesday night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a Champions League game, we haven\u2019t secured qualification yet, tomorrow could be a decisive day,\u201d Gasperini said during his pre-match press conference on Monday evening, reported via TMW.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This will not be the first time the two sides have met in recent years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLast year we played two balanced games, we won 1-0 at home, but we\u2019ve changed some players since then,\u201d Gasperini added. \u201cThey are a team who are in first place in their country, these are all very balanced games. They have only picked up three points, but they have lost narrowly in all the games they\u2019ve played.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI expected a fresh team, one that wants to play after a little period of inactivity. We have to be careful, keep our concentration and attention, we know it will be difficult. We can\u2019t make mistakes, gaining qualification is not done yet.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Gasperini confirmed that Nicolo Zaniolo will not be involved for Atalanta on Tuesday night, but insisted that the set-back is nothing serious and nothing to worry about.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s had a bit of discomfort. It\u2019s nothing serious, he won\u2019t play tomorrow, but we\u2019ll see afterwards,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Gasp was also full of praise for goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, who joined him for the pre-match press conferences.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe has always been a young guy with good prospects. I think he has also matured as a person, with great humility, even in good moments like now. He always has a desire to improve.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There was also a mini-update on Mateo Retegui and Juan Cuadrado: \u201cMateo\u2019s numbers speak for themselves. He had a little stop, but he came back and was immediately decisive.
