Former Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba said he wants to \u2018turn the page\u2019 now his brother Mathias has been sentenced for attempted \u20ac13m extortion of the player.<\/p>\n

The plot was spread out over two incidents in March 2022 in Paris and July 2022 at the Juventus training camp in Turin.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, a Paris count sentences Mathias Pogba to a three-year prison term, but two of those years are suspended and he is being allowed to see out the one year wearing an electronic bracelet.<\/p>\n

It means Mathias will not be behind bars, but has also been fined \u20ac20,000.<\/p>\n

The five other defendants were sentenced up to eight years imprisonment for extortion, kidnapping and participation in a criminal association.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no winner in this case which involves members of my family and people I have known since childhood,\u201d said Pogba in a statement delivered by his lawyer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can finally turn the page on this extremely painful period. This conclusion is an opportunity for everyone to focus on the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that the judgement has been made, I can fully concentrate on my return to professional football.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pogba is a free agent after terminating his contract with Juventus by mutual consent and will not be able to resume playing until his 18-month ban for failing a doping test expires in March 2025.<\/p>\n
