Milan coach Paulo Fonseca insists he doesn\u2019t feel at risk, while Theo Hernandez has \u2018not\u2019 been punished, although the Rossoneri must \u2018improve.\u2019<\/p>\n

Milan coach Fonseca previewed a Serie A game against Hellas Verona during a pre-match press conference on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I\u2019ve always said the same thing. Every game is important. Obviously, it will be challenging, but we\u2019ve worked to win this match,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Theo Hernandez was benched in the previous league match against Genoa and could start on the bench again on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe talked before the game. To me, Theo\u2019s situation is clear to explain,\u201d said Fonseca.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has played a lot, he played for the national team and is not fully fit. Perhaps he needs to \u2018renew\u2019 his condition; he\u2019s a very important player to us. It\u2019s never, never,\u00a0<\/em>a punishment for Theo. Simply, it\u2019s a decision to make him return to be the Theo we know and who, to me, is the best full-back in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fonseca has often criticised the team this season, so what\u2019s the atmosphere like inside the dressing room?<\/p>\n

\u201cI know how things are. You can\u2019t watch training sessions, but perhaps one day, we can invite you to see the atmosphere in the team,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis week was like the others, with a good atmosphere to work. When this is the situation, it\u2019s easier to work. I\u2019ve never seen a sad team, or with no desire to work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans have been critical of players and directors but have not blamed the Portuguese coach openly.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all understand the fans\u2019 frustration, but I have to say that nobody more than us wants to win,\u201d said Fonseca.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe understand the fans. The lads are strong, and they understand the fans. What we can do is work honestly to change this situation and get better results, which the fans deserve.<\/p>\n

I always respect others\u2019 ideas. Now, it\u2019s easier because of the results, and it\u2019s always easier after the games. Is there room for improvement? We must improve our results, and I am convinced we\u2019ll do so.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel the same as the players and the directors. I hear the whistles, but we are all together here. I don\u2019t think the fans love me more than the players. I don\u2019t step aside at this moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Will Milan bring reinforcements in the January transfer window?<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I can say right now is that we always talk. The club is focused on the market and is ready to act if needed,\u201d the coach replied.<\/p>\n

Several rumours have been spread about Fonseca\u2019s future, and many possible replacements, from Massimiliano Allegri to Xavi, have been linked to the Milan job.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t feel at risk, honestly, I don\u2019t,\u201d insisted Fonseca.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany times, people talk about things they don\u2019t know. I can\u2019t come here and say something I don\u2019t feel. Many people are working here with us, and they are part of the team. If we look at the results, as I\u2019ve always said, there is much work to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s a technical or tactical problem. We\u2019ve always spoken about the same thing. It\u2019s here [in the head],\u201d continued Fonseca.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t remember tactical or structural issues. I watch every goal we conceded this week. I have no doubts. I don\u2019t only talk when we don\u2019t win games. I analyse everything, not just the results. This is who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many Rossoneri players, including Alvaro Morata, will be unavailable tomorrow.<\/p>\n

\u201cTorriani, Bartesaghi, Jimenez, Liberali, Zeroli and Camarda have already played [with the first team],\u201d said Fonseca.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are struggling with players now. Pulisic returned from international duty with a problem. Now Musah, Okafor and Loftus [are injured]. Morata has tonsillitis.<\/p>\n

\u201cCamarda could play, and other players could play. Some young players will be with us, and some will play.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Fonseca argued that starting Camarda and Tammy Abraham together would be unlikely.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the start of the week, I thought about starting two strikers, but with the Morata situation, I don\u2019t think we can start with two strikers,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
