Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi publicly criticised the standard of refereeing in Serie A and the lack of VAR usage in incidents involving his team in a damning interview with Il Corriere dello Sport, published on Sunday morning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Here are the seven incidents the Giallorossi director labelled \u2018confirmed errors\u2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ghisolfi points out seven refereeing errors involving Roma this season\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

The first incident Ghislfi referred to came in the second gameweek of the 2024-25 season, specifically during Roma\u2019s 2-1 loss at home to Empoli.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eldor Shomurodov was held back in the penalty area while trying to latch onto the rebound after Paulo Dybala hit the post, which could have resulted in a penalty and a possible equaliser for the Giallorossi.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Corriere dello Sport suggest that there could have been another penalty two games later in Roma\u2019s 1-1 draw with Genoa when Koni De Winter made contact with Dybala in the area.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There was another potential penalty incident in the 1-1 draw with Monza at the start of October, when Tommaso Baldanzi was brought down by Giorgos Kyriakopoulos towards the end of the second half.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a reverse incident, there have also been suggestions that Fiorentina should not have been awarded a penalty in the first half of their eventual 5-1 win over Roma in October. Edoardo Bove appeared to have been brought down by Zeki Celik, but Corriere dello Sport reported that there was no actual contact.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday\u2019s report claims that there were two potential fouls from the corner kick that led to Verona\u2019s second goal in an eventual 3-2 win over the Giallorossi at the start of November: One for an elbow on Evan Ndicka and one for a Grigoris Castanos and goalkeeper Mile Svilar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There were also two potential bookable offences committed by Romelu Lukaku during Napoli\u2019s 1-0 win over Roma last weekend: One for a wreckless challenge on Celik, and the other for a sliding tackle on Svilar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Davide Massa, the referee during Napoli 1-0 Roma, has been suspended for one match as a result of the Lukaku decisions in that game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
