Above all, his winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final against Argentina stands out. In an interview with \u201cThe Players&#8217; Tribune\u201d, the Eintracht Frankfurt professional talks about his career. \u201cI wish I had been a little more patient,\u201d said the 32-year-old, referring to the time after Rio\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n<p>       <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a big burden to carry. I had the feeling that I had to dominate every game, every week.\u201d In the season after the World Cup, G\u00f6tze made 48 appearances for FC Bayern and was involved in 22 goals. In the following two seasons he only played 37 games as he repeatedly struggled with injuries. \u201cBut people have bad days. You get injured or sick. Even if you play well, the coach can change the system and you&#8217;re out. Looking back, I was too hard on myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    <\/p>\n<p>After three years at FC Bayern, where G\u00f6tze had his career high of 55 million euros in 2014, he returned to Borussia Dortmund in 2016 due to declining game shares. The 22 million euro purchase missed 36 games in his first season after returning and was only on the pitch 16 times. His move to BVB almost didn&#8217;t happen because the attacking midfielder had previously met with J\u00fcrgen Klopp.<\/p>\n<h2>G\u00f6tze decides against Klopp and Liverpool: \u201cI was so impatient\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>Under Klopp, who took over Liverpool from Brendan Rodgers in the fall of 2015, G\u00f6tze celebrated his breakthrough at BVB, became German champion twice and matured into a national player. \u201cLook, Mario, you&#8217;re going to play a lot and you&#8217;re going to have fun here. I know this is the most important thing for you. The club is incredible. \u201cThink about it,\u201d Klopp said to G\u00f6tze in an interview in 2016. Nevertheless, he decided to return to BVB, whose squad value at the time was 306.7 million euros. The Reds invested 80 million euros this summer and signed Sadio Man\u00e9 and Georginio Wijnaldum, who played a key role in winning the premier class in 2019. The squad value in the summer of 2016 was 437.5 million euros.  <\/p>\n<p>         <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to win straight away. I was so impatient. Liverpool had just finished eighth in England, Dortmund were second in Germany,\u201d said G\u00f6tze, explaining his decision, which he later regretted. \u201cAs much as I love Dortmund, I still feel like I missed out on a special trip with J\u00fcrgen. I didn\u2019t understand that he needed time to build a great team at Liverpool.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>          <\/p>\n<p>Between 2016 and 2020, G\u00f6tze played 103 competitive games for BVB and was involved in 31 goals, but was unable to match the performances from his first stop in Dortmund. Meanwhile, Klopp formed one of the best teams in Europe in Liverpool, won the Champions League and became English champions. The Reds&#8217; squad value increased from 330.3 million to 941.9 million euros during the Klopp era, with a negative transfer balance of 393.7 million euros. G\u00f6tze&#8217;s contract ended in the summer of 2020, he was without a club until October and his market value fell to 10.5 million euros.<\/p>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<h2>Contact with Flick: G\u00f6tze&#8217;s return to FC Bayern falls through<\/h2>\n<p>The former world champion reported that Hansi Flick contacted him in March 2020 and inquired about his future. Flick was coach at FC Bayern at the time and was supposed to win the treble in the summer of 2020. \u201cWe agreed to stay in touch.\u201d However, a move to Munich did not materialize. \u201cI spoke to Hansi a few more times. But in the end it didn\u2019t work out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>         <\/p>\n<p>It took until October 6th before G\u00f6tze signed with PSV Eindhoven, where a former Bundesliga coach, Roger Schmidt, welcomed him. \u201cWhen I look at it now, I don\u2019t think he knows how important he was not only for my career, but also for me as a person.\u201d G\u00f6tze blossomed again at his first stop abroad and was chosen by Flick for the 2022 World Cup nominated. After 23 goals in 52 games, he moved to the newly crowned Europa League winner Eintracht Frankfurt, where his contract runs until 2026 and he is currently moving between the starting line-up and the substitute bench.<\/p>\n<p>          <\/p>\n<p>G\u00f6tze is repeatedly asked about his goal against Argentina, but he doesn&#8217;t want to be reduced to that. \u201cIt was an incredible moment, but also just a chapter in my life. When they ask if it was the best moment of my life, I just smile.
