Roma coach Ivan Juric reveals Paulo Dybala won\u2019t be available for a Serie A game against Bologna and insists he\u2019s never considered resigning, although he couldn\u2019t see the team\u2019s \u2018soul\u2019 in some \u2018dark\u2019 matches.<\/p>\n

Juric is on the brink as Roma prepare to host Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Club owners cancelled a trip to Italy, but according to Gazzetta, they are considering hiring Roberto Mancini during the international break.<\/p>\n

During a pre-match press conference on Saturday, a journalist asked Juric if it\u2019s harsh to say that he hasn\u2019t yet found a solution to Roma\u2019s problems.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not harsh. I agree with you,\u201d the coach replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see some good signals, but they become something I don\u2019t like after a while.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, there are moments when I see my team. I was honest when I said I was satisfied despite the defeat against Hellas Verona,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cAgainst Union, I saw no difference compared to Florence, regardless of the draw. I saw no focus at some moments, I saw too many counter-attacks, and I didn\u2019t see my team. I didn\u2019t see the characteristics of my teams. Against Union, we were often distracted, and we created troubles for ourselves. I saw wrong decisions and things I struggled to accept. I can\u2019t explain such a performance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Juric insisted that he was satisfied with performances in some matches, like one against Torino, but was disappointed not to see consistency.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Belgium, I didn\u2019t see the soul, the involvement, the focus. I see the run, but I don\u2019t see the soul,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTactics are important, but you can\u2019t be competitive if you don\u2019t have that thing. It\u2019s the starting point in football.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat upsets me as a coach and man is to see that it is possible to do something. I saw it in some games. There were bad matches, too, but this lack of mental consistency has truly upset me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mats Hummels was relegated to the bench again on Thursday despite Evan D\u2019dicka\u2019s unavailability.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve never argued. Hummels is an excellent professional. I am not going to hide behind \u2018technical choice\u2019,\u201d said Juric.<\/p>\n

\u201cI needed somebody to do this and that to play well. Cristante did in Belgium. He was good. It\u2019s straightforward. There is nothing behind it.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the same reason, I picked Pisilli over Pellegrini. I expected more, especially at the start, but I must now follow my feelings. I can\u2019t hide myself.<\/p>\n

Dybala was rested in Belgium mid-week and won\u2019t be available tomorrow.<\/p>\n

\u201cDybala won\u2019t be available because he feels discomfort during the warmup,\u201d Juric explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wanted to train yesterday, but he couldn\u2019t because of discomfort.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s had many injuries in the past. It\u2019s a classic thing. It\u2019s not an actual injury. He feels discomfort that doesn\u2019t leave him calm. It happened in Belgium; he wanted to train yesterday and started [the training session], but then he felt something.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lastly, Juric was asked if he ever considered resigning.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we cleared the air after Florence. I\u2019ve never thought about taking a step back,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve worked hard, and I won\u2019t take a step back. It\u2019s not easy because sometimes you see something, but then it disappears. This is the truth. I\u2019ve seen improvements in some games and darkness in others.\u201d<\/p>\n
