{"id":2897,"date":"2024-10-13T03:15:44","date_gmt":"2024-10-13T03:15:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/betwealthsuretips.com\/blog\/zalewski-i-was-close-to-galatasaray-but-not-best-thing-for-me-in-2024-25\/"},"modified":"2024-10-13T03:15:45","modified_gmt":"2024-10-13T03:15:45","slug":"zalewski-i-was-close-to-galatasaray-but-not-best-thing-for-me-in-2024-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/betwealthsuretips.com\/blog\/zalewski-i-was-close-to-galatasaray-but-not-best-thing-for-me-in-2024-25\/","title":{"rendered":"Zalewski: &#8216;I was close to Galatasaray, but not best thing for me&#8217; in 2024-25"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div><picture><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/icdn.football-italia.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Nicola-Zalewski-Roma-cu.jpg\" title=\"Zalewski: \u2018I was close to Galatasaray, but not best thing for me\u2019\"   fetchpriority=\"high\"><\/picture><\/div>\n<p>Nicola Zalewski Roma (Photo by Alessandro Sabattini\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>Nicola Zalewski admits he was \u2018very close\u2019 to joining Galatasaray this summer, but turning them down to renegotiate a Roma contract was \u2018the best thing for me.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>A deal had been done between the two clubs for over \u20ac10m plus add-ons, with a lucrative salary proposed to the player, but it all fell apart at the last minute.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI won\u2019t lie: I was very close to completing the transfer to Galatasaray,\u201d he told TVP Sport while on international duty with Poland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was a very good offer on the table, but I thought it over, I spoke to my family, and I think that I did what was the best thing for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Zalewski welcomed back into Roma fold<\/h2>\n<p>The wing-back had been frozen out of the Roma squad following the refusal, much to the chagrin of first Daniele De Rossi and then Ivan Juric.<\/p>\n<p>This was because his contract only runs to the end of this season, so they feared losing him as a free agent, which would be a devastating blow for their financial plans.<\/p>\n<p>Now that he has started talks to pen a new and improved deal, Zalewski is back in the team and returned to the field against Monza.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have played recently and got back into the squad, so I am very happy.
