Anthony Lopes, who was demoted to fourth goalkeeper at Olympique Lyon, has spoken critically about how he was treated. The Europa League participant did not deal transparently with the situation between the posts, the 34-year-old Portuguese accused the club management in an interview with \u201cL’\u00c9quipe\u201d.<\/p>\n

Lopes analyzed that he doesn’t see himself as number four. \u201cI simply believe that I don\u2019t belong in the hierarchy of goalkeepers at OL. I am in the place I was given, which means no place. I accept the situation as best I can, knowing that I have no other choice. I\u2019m in the training group, but not in the hierarchy because I can\u2019t recommend myself for deployment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Olympique responded to the interview in a statement and contradicted Lopes’ statements. The player and his advisor were \u201cwell informed about the situation and sporting developments\u201d. The club assured him that it would provide him with the best possible support and make a change possible. Lopes would have been allowed to leave the club for free despite his contract until 2025, and Lyon would even have compensated for salary losses at a new club. But no solution was found.<\/p>\n
