Borussia M\u00f6nchengladbach is still waiting for its first new signing for the defense. Maximilian W\u00f6ber, one of the key players, had to be let go after the end of his loan from Leeds United; the English club’s transfer fee was too high. But now it seems there will be a second attempt.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to “Sky”, Gladbach wants to try another loan. The 26-year-old Austrian could therefore imagine a return to the Bundesliga, especially since he is not a regular for the Blades. W\u00f6ber was only allowed to play in the EFL Cup against Middlesbrough (0:3) this season, in the three league games he sat on the bench twice for 90 minutes, and on Friday against Sheffield Wednesday (2:0) he was not even in the squad. However, there have not yet been any concrete negotiations between the clubs.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Gladbach’s sporting director Roland Virkus had already confirmed in the spring that he wanted to keep W\u00f6ber, but he offered little hope given Leeds’ financial expectations. “We are currently in talks with everyone involved. The fact is that Max would like to stay with us. But Leeds are first (…) and have pretty high expectations.” According to “Bild”, the demands at the time amounted to around 17 million euros.<\/p>\n

If Gladbach wants to hope for a loan, Leeds would probably have to sign a new central defender. With new signings Joe Rodon (26) and Pascal Struijk (25), there are currently only two other central defensive players available. Charlie Cresswell (21; FC Toulouse), Diego Llorente (30; Real Betis), Robin Koch (27; Frankfurt) and Liam Cooper (32; without a club) have already been sold.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
