Borussia Dortmund achieved a profit after taxes of 44.3 million euros in the 2023\/24 financial year. This is the second-best result in BVB’s history, as managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke announced at the annual press conference in Dortmund. BVB last reported a comparable profit in 2013 after reaching the final of the Champions League and selling Mario G\u00f6tze (32) to FC Bayern.<\/p>\n

The SDAX-listed company achieved a record turnover of 607 million euros at the end of June. This includes transfer payments of almost 98 million euros. According to new accounting rules, Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA must list turnover and transfers separately. Without the sales of players such as Jude Bellingham (21) to Real Madrid, BVB had a turnover of 509.1 million euros. Last year, total turnover, including transfers, was 515.4 million euros.<\/p>\n

“Our potential is to develop young players and then, if necessary, to refine it financially,” explained Watzke. The BVB boss was “very satisfied” and pointed out that in 2019, i.e. before the corona pandemic, the management had set the medium-term goal of a turnover of over 500 million euros without transfers. This has now been achieved. “We have achieved exceptionally good results in all areas and have developed a growth dynamic. I am confident that we will be able to achieve this in the coming years as well.”<\/p>\n

Chief Financial Officer Thomas Tre\u00df announced that shareholders would be paid a dividend of six cents per share for the first time in years. “It is my 20th annual press conference and one of the more positive ones,” said Watzke when presenting the figures. The 65-year-old also looked positively towards the new season.<\/p>\n

“Nuri \u015eahin is doing it very professionally. And I am also very happy with the transfer policy. We have managed to achieve a very balanced result. These players are very good for the dressing room. Couto and Beier have great potential. A big compliment goes to Lars Ricken, Sebastian Kehl and Sven Mislintat. We are measured by results. We must now try to generate the necessary results from the good feeling. It will be a very exhausting season,” said Watzke.<\/p>\n
