Álvaro Montoro is the next star in the South American talent sky and, according to a “Sky” report, is said to be in the focus of Borussia Dortmund and Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The 17 -year -old offensive midfielder of Vélez Sarsfield has drawn attention to himself with strong performances in the Copa Libertadores in the past few weeks. However, the Bundesliga clubs alone are not with their interest.
Montoro was associated with Botafogo Rio de Janeiro in South American media weeks ago. The advantage of switching to the top Brazilian club would be the short connection to European clubs like Olympique Lyon about owner John Textor. Thiago Almada, who moved from Atlanta United to Botafogo last summer and only half a year later, moved to Ligue 1 last summer. Like his young compatriot, the 23-year-old comes from the youth of Vélez.
Montoro is trusted at least one similar development as Almada. At the age of 17, the right foot can look back on 31 missions with the professionals, in which he scored a goal and gave two assists and was part of the championship team last year. In the Copa Libertadores, the South American counterpart to the Champions League, Montoro shone in the past two weeks with one goal participation against Cañarol (2: 1) from Uruguay and Olimpia Asunción (4: 0) from Paraguay.
In Europe, the youngster is primarily in demand because the contract at Vélez expires in December of this year. Advertising from BVB and Bayer 04 does not seem to be advanced at the moment, with “Sky” there is only talk of intensive observation of the player.
