Mika Biereth will continue to play for Sturm Graz. As the champions announced on Monday, the attacker has been signed permanently by Arsenal FC and is signing a contract at the clock tower that runs until 2028. Sturm is said to have paid around 4.7 million euros for the Dane’s services, meaning the 21-year-old will replace Charles Amoah as the most expensive purchase in the club’s history. The Ghanaian was brought in from Switzerland in January 2001 for the equivalent of just under 3.9 million euros during the time of then-president Hannes Kartnig.

Biereth joined Graz in January 2024, where he quickly became a key player and crowd favorite. By the end of the season, the English-born player had made 22 competitive appearances, scoring nine goals. Despite his short stay, he was the double winner’s third-best goalscorer.

Sporting director Andreas Schicker said of the return: “Mika is an absolute professional striker for our system, with power, depth and an enormous goal threat. We have never made a secret of the fact that we wanted to see Mika continue in Graz after his outstanding performances in the spring. We are therefore extremely happy that we have now been able to implement this venture. In addition to the very good discussions with Arsenal, Mika’s very clear commitment to SK Sturm was crucial. We are extremely happy that he does not see his job at SK Sturm as over yet and about seeing him continue to play in the striker’s jersey.”
