Holtmann’s record surpassed

Gerrit Holtmann only held the record as the fastest player in Bundesliga history for just over a month. On Saturday, Bochum winger Sirlord Conteh replaced 1. FC Heidenheim. The 28-year-old right winger was measured at 37.0 km/h in the duel at FC Bayern – no other professional in the German upper house has been faster since data recording was introduced in 2011/12. Holtmann’s record was 36.74 km/h.
Conteh got his speed record back. On the second matchday of this season he was clocked at 36.67 km/h against FC Augsburg and had displaced Karim Adeyemi (22; 19th matchday 2022/23).
Conteh is the first in league history to break 37 km/h. Previously, 24 players in the Bundesliga exceeded the 36 km/h mark since the data was collected. The then Dortmund player Achraf Hakimi (26) achieved this for the first time in the 2019/20 season. On the 16th matchday against RB Leipzig (3:3), the Moroccan was measured at 36.21 km/h, and he improved his personal best to 36.49 km just a short time later on the 20th matchday against Union Berlin (5:0). /h.
For comparison: Sprint legend Usain Bolt, who unsuccessfully sought a career as a professional footballer after retiring from athletics, achieved a top speed of 44.72 km/h.
