Claudio Ranieri insists Roma will need reinforcements to close the gap with the top four, but the Giallorossi have ‘young players who can and must grow.’
Ranieri spoke to the media at a press conference on the eve of a Serie A match against Hellas Verona.
The Italian tactician admitted that the Giallorossi’s target to qualify for the Champions League season is not realistic and replied to a question about Roma’s transfer strategies for the 2025 summer window.
Ranieri: What De Rossi said about Roma transfers ‘was true’

A journalist asked Ranieri about his thoughts on De Rossi’s claims, as the former midfielder said last summer that Roma needed more athletic players and to generally improve the team’s quality to get closer to the top sides.
“For now, let’s focus on this season. We are trying to sort out the matters for this year,” Ranieri replied via Il Romanista.
“What Daniele said was true. Since I arrived, we’ve done our best. We have young players who can and must grow. Of course, there is still a gap with the top four or five teams, and it’s significant. Even those who don’t watch football can see it.”
