Fernando Sanz50 years old, has explained how he lived his time in the real Madrid (1995-99) being the son of the then president of the club, Lorenzo Sanz. In an interview in ‘The Objective’, the former white central defender affirms that if what he experienced daily was not harassment, it was a lot like it. “People picked on me”says the current member of the 2030 World Cup Executive Committee.
“It hurt me a lot. For many things. The envy that I had to suffer those years… Countless things happened. I worked like no one else, every day I went to the Ciudad Deportiva to be promoted to the first team. But always with Saint Benedict and with the sword of Damocles that they placed on me. I want to remember that I am one of the few footballers who went through all the club’s lower categories until reaching the first team and in all of them I was captain”.
Explain that “I don’t know if it was harassment, but it was every day of the year. Whether we played at home or away. And all because my father is the president of the club. They killed me even without playing, both from the press and from the people. At that time there were many prejudices, but what I was capable of doing was demonstrated when I went to play for Málaga”between 1999 and 2006.
Asked what the biggest memory he keeps from his time there, he says: “There are so many, the truth is, that it is very difficult to tell you one. In the games at the Santiago Bernabéu I remember how they attacked me. And also in training. Then the public could come to see us at the Ciudad Deportiva.
