The president of Seville, José María del Nido Carrascoannounced on Wednesday that in the entity “you have to make unpopular decisions to build another great Seville”, in reference to the great discomfort among the fondness for the institutional, economic and sports march through which the club takes place in recent years.
“The tier showed the other day his anger against the Council and against me in particular. The fans are sovereign and it is what he has to do, but it is true that he has had to direct the club at a very complicated moment of society,” said the leader in statements to the official media of Sevilla.
“After this council classified the team ten times in a row for Europe, we are not in European competition, we do not have the income of ‘Champions’ and that makes it have to lead a series of unpopular decisions that are unpleasant for me,” said the Carrasco nest.
The president argued that “whoever manages the club, which is now this council with a majority support of the share capital, has to make this series of decisions, cost reduction, to take two steps back to take momentum and give two forward later.”
The Carrasco Nest explained that “the new project is marked by the responsibility of returning economic stability” and recalled that it has been in Sevilla eighteen years in different positions and that it has been “practically in all titles and in all classifications for the end”, but that it has also “experienced situations similar to this.”
“I am Sevillista but I am also a manager, and I have the conviction that what I am doing is necessary. I take possession of the position on December 31, 2023, with the team struggling not to descend, in a complicated situation and we save the category,” added the leader, who stressed that this season began “a new project with unpleasant decisions such as reducing the cost of the workforce by 70 million.”
He insisted that they cannot “sustain a Champions Structure without Champions’ income” and that “football, such as life, are cycles”, in addition to affirming that in the last twenty years the club has “had and completed several cycles.”
“Last year, after ten years with European classification, we did not do it and now we have to start a new cycle in which we have to readjust, gradually start a sports and economical regeneration. We would like to go faster, but the steps must be taken one by one. The road map is clear, it is supported by the majority of the social capital and would have to face it anyone who directed the club,” he reiterated.
All matches are final
Del Nido Carrasco acknowledged that “they are very complicated moments after three losses, with the very angry fans,” which he understands and respects, although he stressed “the importance of helping the team to achieve their goals.
“You have to be cold and firm, thinking about Friday’s game against Valencia, when we can reverse this bad sports situation. All matches are key, but that of Valencia right now is vital because we come from three consecutive defeats. It is time to be close to the coaching staff and the team so that we are all as close as possible,” he said.
He also referred to the protest of the Sevillista before, during and after last Sunday at the Sancehz-Pizjuán against Atlético de Madrid (1-2) and said he respects those demonstrations, although “it is not pleasant for people to ask you to leave.”
“I have a very quiet awareness because right now what this is.
A hate campaign with threats
The president, however, points out that “this council has been supporting a hate campaign with insults, death threats, painted …” and that this cannot be “tolerated”, as a series of incidents that occurred after the meeting before Atlético and that have “condemned through a statement.”
“It sadded me a lot because it is the result of an hatred campaign that has been supporting Sevilla FC for some time and its board of directors. The fans of Seville is stately and not much less is reflected in this type of incidents, which embarrassed me. Verbal and physical violence is a crime that we will pursue,” he said.

The now maximum leader of Sevilla, added that they have been “supporting a fake news campaign for a long time, including Sánchez-Pizjuán to sell to the La Cartuja stadium, but that is not true and that” the only thing they pursue is to damage the reputation of Sevilla and its board of directors. “
