Simon Zoller will end his career in summer. This was announced by the 33 -year -old striker of FC St. Pauli in a video message via Instagram. Due to the injury, he will not be on the pitch again before saying goodbye.
“For me it has become physically and difficult to fight against it,” said Zoller. His decision has “matured over the past few months”. He feels “happy” and “good”. Zoller switched from VfL Bochum to St. Pauli in the summer of 2023, but was only used five times for the Kiezkicker due to several injuries. He played his last game more than a year ago – on March 16, 2024 in Nuremberg (2-0).
Zoller became professional at Karlsruher SC in 2011 and also played for VfL Osnabrück, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, 1. FC Köln, VfL Bochum and FC St. Pauli. He was on the pitch 114 times in the Bundesliga, 123 times in the 2nd league and 36 times in the 3rd division. He completed most of the games for Bochum (109), his highest market value of 3 million euros in 2014 in Kaiserslautern and two years later in Cologne.
