After the international break, the hot phase begins in the Bundesliga – eight weeks, eight games and no interruption. Six teams fight for relegation in the table cellar, the remaining twelve teams play for participating in the international business. And even the title race seems to be reopened after two Bayern Munich FC. Transfer market gives an overview of the remaining program of the Bundesliga clubs.
After the 0: 0 of the Munich against Bayer Leverkusen on the 22nd matchday and the subsequent clear victories against Eintracht Frankfurt (4-0) and VfB Stuttgart (3: 1), the fight for the master bowl in favor of the record champions seemed to be decided. However, the FCB lost 2: 3 at home against VfL Bochum and only scored one point at Union Berlin. The Leverkuseners, on the other hand, spectacularly turned the game against VfB and shortened the distance to the leader to six points. In the rest of the program, the Xabi Alonso -opponent’s team expects an average rank of 11.25. FC Bayern meets teams whose table position is currently 10.13.
Stuttgart and Bremen at the advantage – BVB on average at 7th place
Only VfB Stuttgart (11.38) and Werder Bremen (12.25) have a number of lighter remaining program than the two title contenders. As a day in the table, the North Germans have 13 points ahead of the relegation rank and do not have to look down. But even in 6th place, the distance is nine points and should be difficult to catch up. However, seventh place could also be enough for a qualification for the Conference League if the DFB Cup winner should end the season among the first six teams. Werder currently has seven points behind the seventh. The remaining opponents could therefore represent a glimmer of hope in the difficult struggle for Europe.
BVB is also likely to tackle 7th place in order not to have to do without international football in the coming season. After the renewed defeat against RB Leipzig, the gap to sixth place is seven points. For the Borussia, there is a complicit that there are still six teams waiting for the black yellow in the table. The average placement of the remaining opponents is 7.38 – only TSG Hoffenheim has a more demanding rest program after numbers.
Third to seven: exciting race for the Champions League
FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen should not be taken in the next season – 14 and 20 points are fifth in fifth place. At least five teams fight for the other two places.
The 1st FSV Mainz 05 and Eintracht Frankfurt (both 45 points) start with the best starting point in the final phase of the season, RB Leipzig (42), SC Freiburg (42) and Borussia Mönchengladbach (40) are fighting behind it. All five clubs meet teams that are on average ninth place. This also applies to VfL Wolfsburg and FC Augsburg, but both have only outsider chances with 38 points.
Abbey: TSG only against the top half of the table and Dortmund
Six teams tremble in the table cellar around the whereabouts in the upper house – the bottom of the light Holstein Kiel has the worst starting point with eight points behind the saving bank. The storks (Ø rank 8.5) expect similarly difficult tasks as St. Pauli (8.75) and Heidenheim (8.25), but have the advantage that, unlike the other two competitors, they no longer meet FC Bayern, Leverkusen and Frankfurt.
The most difficult remaining program in the relegation battle and the entire league is the TSG Hoffenheim before with seven opponents from the upper half of the table and BVB. “To believe that we are through would now be fatal,” said coach Christian Ilzer at the beginning of the month when the lead of the Kraichgauer seemed comfortable. After that, his team only took one point against Heidenheim and lost to St. Pauli. The opponents that have come now are on average 6.25. In the first half of the season, only a victory in these games was achieved.
Union Berlin (Ø-rang 10) and Bochum (10.13) have the much more relaxed remaining program. On the last four game days, Union, FCH and St. Pauli, three direct competitors are waiting for Bochum – so it should remain exciting up to the last minute.
