This season, two additional starting places in the Champions League went to BVB and FC Bologna, since the Bundesliga and Serie A 2023/24 internationally collected the most points in UEFA five years. During this season, the Premier League is very likely to receive one of the extra places, but in 2025/26 up to seven English representatives in the premier class could be involved. And even eleven spread over the three UEFA competitions.
In order for these English festival to occur, some more or less unrealistic scenarios have to occur. The last chance for both clubs to save a messed up season. In order for all clubs to take the Europa League seriously, the UEFA introduced the rule that the winner not only receives the trophy, but also a ticket for the upcoming Champions League season.
How the Premier League comes on eleven clubs in the European Cup
Now we have seven English teams on Europe’s largest football stage. This would mean that the sixth place in the Premier League leads to the Europa League – provided the English winners of the Champions League and the Europa League prove any of these ranks. But that’s not enough!
