Since Finn Dahmen was promoted to FC Augsburg at the turn of the year, the Fuggerstädter has been making the best defense in Europe’s top leagues (to the article). The 26 -year -old goalkeeper kept a white vest in the last five games and has not conceded a goal for 523 minutes – new Augsburg record. Noah Atubolu also provided a new record for SC Freiburg.
The last player who was able to overcome Dahmen was his team -mate Noahkai Banks by the own goal in the 17th minute at 1-1 against FC St. Pauli in early February. This was followed by five games without a goal against Mainz 05 (0: 0), RB Leipzig (0: 0), Gladbach (3: 0), Freiburg (0: 0) and Borussia Dortmund (1: 0). Marwin Hitz previously held the Augsburg Bundesliga record from the 2015/16 season. The Swiss stayed for 399 minutes without conceding a goal before Klaas-Jan Huntelaar ended this series.
The record in the Bundesliga belongs to Timo Hildebrand, who remained a total of 885 minutes without conceding a total of 885 minutes from May 2003 to October 2003. It took until the 9th matchday of the 2003/04 season before the ex-DFB goalkeeper had to grab behind for the first time-Bremen’s Angelos Charisteas scored the goal. In the current season, five Bundesliga clubs have set a new record: Péter Gulácsi for Leipzig (510 minutes), Nikola Vasilj for St. Pauli (287), Frederik Rönnow for Union Berlin (284), Kevin Müller for Heidenheim (217) and Timon Weiner for Neulstein Kiel (155).
But not only FC Augsburg can currently show a considerable series without a goal, but also SC Freiburg. Atubolu kept a white vest in the past six games and overtook Richard Golz during the duel against RB Leipzig, who stayed 510 minutes without conceding in the 2000/01 season. Atubolu is now 576 minutes.
